What does your existing data pipeline look like, and how does that constrain or enable your retrieval architecture? What does your current infrastructure actually cost under AI workloads - not what your cloud provider’s calculator estimates, but what your workload pattern costs at production scale?

These aren’t nice-to-have questions. They’re the load-bearing questions. Skip them, and you’re building an architecture on assumptions that haven’t been validated. The enterprises that skip this phase aren’t being reckless. They’re being pressured to show results.
